Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva presented in Johannesburg the official logo for the FIFA World Cup 2014. “The success of our African brothers is a huge challenge for our country. We believe in our potential and we like tasks for organization of the World Championship very much,” stated Lula da Silva, accompanied by Carlos Alberto Torres, Brazil national team captain in the 1970s, Romario de Souza Faria, the FIFA World Player of the Year and winner of the World Cup Golden Ball in 1994, and Marcos Cafu, winner of the FIFA World Cup 1994 and 2002.

“Brazilians are the greatest football-loving nation in the world. Football is a religion in Brazil. Now it is time for the World Cup to get back to the South America,” added FIFA President Sepp Blatter. The design of the logo reminds the World Cup given to Brazilians after they won the Championship for the fifth time.

The logo is called "Inspiration," and was created by Brazilian agency "Africa." The design stems from an iconic photograph of three victorious hands together raising the world´s most famous trophy. As well as depicting the humanitarian notion of hands interlinking, the portrayal of the hands is also symbolic of the yellow and green of Brazil warmly welcoming the world to their country.
