Kyiv at night has many advantages over most European capitals, where one often must go all the way to the airport for a pack of smokes. There are currency exchange outlets (mind you, they offer a very unfavorable exchange rate to clients) and flower shops operating round the clock in the nation’s capital.
You can consult a travel agent via telephone or Internet and choose a destination and date for going on vacation. You can move from one apartment to another, repair a computer or a TV set, print photographs, buy skis, etc…
The matter is not a lack of sensitivity to consumers in the West. There employers care about the health of waiters, vendors, car mechanics and other service personnel that work into the wee hours of the morning. Their right to a good night’s sleep is fixed in agreements between employers and trade unions. Sooner or later, we will also adopt these European rules. Until such a time, we may as well go out on the town and get the best of its nightlife.
Preen your feathers
Finding time to go to a beauty parlor during the day is somewhat problematic. On weekdays, it is virtually impossible and on weekends you either have to book a time in advance or wait in long lines. So, what if you need to look pretty in a snap?
The increasing demand for haircuts, coiffures, manicures and pedicures in the evenings is forcing many beauty salons to switch to a 24/7 working regime. The truth be told, so far they are few and far between and the range of services they offer is limited, but there are places where you can go to have everything done “from your head down to your feet”.

No-choice shopping
Unfortunately, a full-blown shopping spree in boutiques in Kyiv at night is not possible as most of them in the downtown area close at 10 pm. However, shopping for food is not a problem at all. Besides food products supermarkets that are open roundtheclock sell small items for the apartment.
As for household appliances, furniture, flowers and other goods that may come in handy at three o’clock in the morning, you can order them and pick them up at 24-hour online shops.

Motorist’s nightlife
Gas stations, car washes and car parts shops also operate at night, when there are no traffic jams on the roads. The greatest inconvenience may be the closure of roads by KyivAvtoDor (Kyiv Road Administration) for repairs at night, but they can be bypassed. If you don’t feel like driving to the local gas station at night, you can order winter tires, window washing fluid and other accessories at online shops and have the order delivered to your home.
