Low-cost flights make vacations abroad more advantageous than vacations in Ukraine

Deputy Minister for Resorts and Tourism in Crimea Maryna Slesareva informed that prices of vacationing in Crimea this summer will be a minimum 10% higher than last season. “Prices are growing due to the rising prices of foodstuffs,” Slesareva explained.

On this backdrop, travel agencies anticipate an increase in demand on vacationing abroad in the medium price segment and airlines have already announced the introduction of new low-cost flights to the most popular destinations abroad. “Low-cost airlines have expanded their horizons. Today, Ukrainians more frequently fly to Germany, Italy and the UK. When people see they have to pay almost the same money for vacations in Crimea and Venice, they prefer the latter destination. This summer we expect an increase in outbound tourism by approximately 10-20% and mostly at the expense of the outflow of tourists from domestic resorts and those that could not afford to go on vacation due to last year’s financial crisis,” said Anastasia Mykhailenko, Director of Primavera Travel. As such, airlines are opening new destinations and the prices for such flights will satisfy frequent flyers.
