The US Senate adopted a resolution proposed by Richard Lugar and John Kerry recognizing the substantial progress of Ukraine on its path towards democracy. Voice of America reports that the resolution recognized the important progress Ukraine is making in facing the challenges of holding elections.
The Senate called on all parties to respect the independence and territorial sovereignty of Ukraine and promised to further support the development of a free and open democratic system in Ukraine and a transparent and free market economy and together with the Ukrainian government will further develop bilateral cooperation through the Ukrainian-American Commission for Strategic Partnership.
