The Verkhovna Rada demanded that President Viktor Yanukovych “disclose information on the number of national awards and orders conferred during the presidency of Viktor Yushechenko.” 353 of the 226 minimum votes required, the members of parliament voted in favor of the corresponding inquiry.

In his five years in office President Viktor Yushchenko conferred the Hero of Ukraine title upon 102 individuals. During the second term of his presidency Leonid Kuchma conferred this awarded on 130 individuals.
