“Production of poultry meat and eggs in Ukraine are in line with European standards,” the press service of the State Board of Veterinary Medicine said with a reference to the final report of the European Commission (EC) on the audit control system in the production of poultry meat products and eggs.
In particular, the EU inspectors acknowledged that Ukraine introduced an efficient system of production control in factories and farms. The report stresses, at the same time, the importance of introducing additional measures to ensure the maintenance of animals in slaughterhouses. An expert mission of the Office of Food and Veterinary Medicine of the European Commission visited Ukraine from May 17- 27, 2010. In July, Ukraine presented an action plan for the implementation of the recommendations of inspectors on adjusting the discovered flaws. The plan of the European Commission seems to be quite adequate. In addition, from July 1 Russia lifted restrictions on imports of Ukrainian animal products of all types of companies that have been inspected by Russian experts.
"Such a decision creates a positive environment for the exported goods of domestic poultry farmers”, the national veterinary authority stated.
