Ukraine has plans in course of 10 years to increase domestic output of natural gas by 100% to 40 bn cubic metres a year, First Vice Prime Minister Andriy Kliuev told a Kharkiv news conference in last week. He said the extraction will grow at the expense a number of deposits, including on sea shelf. Kliuev says the government will restore contacts with the controversial Vanco Prykerchenska. “It was a raid attack by the state, they would have been started drilling long ago,” Kliuev said and added that the country will attract other major investors. He also said Ukraine´s shale deposits are one of the richest in the world. Prime cost of shale gas mined in the U.S. ranges from US $ 120 to US $ 150 per thousand cubic metres, which is lower that the cost of Russian gas, which makes US $ 236 for Ukraine.
