Sort out border queues

03.09.2010 | kyivweekly.com.ua

Long border queues at Boryspil Airpirt, the main gateway into the country, have become more and more commonplace. Indeed, waits of an hour or even more in the sweltering summer heat at the height of the summer tourist boom certainly do not put a smile on anyone’s face. No-one doubts the need for attention to detail during the handling of incoming hordes of tourists. Of course, there are such queues in big hubs like Gatwick and Schiphol. However, the registration process in Ukraine needs to be simplified and certainly shortened, even if only at peak times during the day. After all, Boryspil is being expanded but its border and customs services cannot handle many flights simultaneously.  For most foreigners the airport and those first impressions on arrival will go a long way to making a lasting impression. So let’s cut the queues by speeding things along. As the old adage goes, you don’t get a second chance to make a good first impression!
