The Cabinet intends to propose the Verkhovna Rada to raise luxury taxes, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said during an appearance on Inter TV channel on April 9. In his words, the list of the luxury taxation targets includes more then 30 items. In particular, Azarov says the government has intention of initiating a higher increase in customs duties on importation of expensive cars. “You want to drive a Rolls-Royce - please, pay five prices of this Rolls-Royce. If it costs a million - give five [millions] to the state, to the poor people and drive around,” Azaro said. According to Cabinet´s estimates, Rada´s support to this government´s initiative will generate additional UAH 5 bn in receipts to the national budget.
